5 Easy steps to creating an effective blog

May 28th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Social Media, eCommerce News

Blogs have made a grand entrance into the marketing dominion. Why? They can be a successful marketing tool if done rights. Blogs have core components that increase their success such as content, distribution, and frequency, but you need more than that to get people to read it. Popular blogs have one thing in common; an individual voice. A voice will not only gain readers, but it keeps them. Here are five stepsthat you can follow that will enable you to create an effective blog:

1.    Create a Blog Personality- Be free, honest and open with your blog and allow it to develop it’s own personality your reader can easily tell if you are being disingenuous.
2.    Keep it simple- This has been our approach to design for quite some time. Short concise post are far more effective than long winded paragraphs that are without substance.
3.    Consistency is key- Yeah, this is a major struggle for most people as time simply does not permit in most cases. My advise develop a schedule then stick with it, 3 times and week is a decent goal every other day is ideal.
4.    Good Titles draw attention- Just like a book in a library the title of your blog will enable you to stand out from others.
5.    Comments are good- Interaction with your reader is one of the many reasons why you blog so why not allow them to post comments that are moderated of course.

Twitter co-founder Biz Stone said on Monday that the company is developing various add-on tools and services for the businesses and professional users of Twitter, which could create a revenue stream for the company. He said Twitter plans to introduce some of these tools by year end.

But Stone dismissed the notion of selling advertisements on the popular service at this time, even though ad revenue is the main way most Web start-ups manage to stay in business while keeping their service free for consumers.
